About The Position

S&ME's Finance team, out of our headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, is adding a Senior Accountant to support ongoing growth and operational needs. As a Senior Accountant, you will play an essential role in ensuring accurate financial records, reliable reporting, and strong compliance across the organization. This position supports the Accounting department by managing key accounting functions, maintaining clean and consistent financial data, and helping ensure timely closes and regulatory requirements are met. Your work will contribute to the day‑to-day stability and reliability of the company's financial operations.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • A minimum of 5 years of General Ledger experience
  • Proven Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) knowledge and experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial software programs

Responsibilities

  • Manage account reconciliations
  • Prepare journal entries
  • Oversee general ledger accruals
  • Lead accurate and timely month‑end and period‑end close activities in accordance with GAAP
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports
  • Support annual budget planning
  • Provide meaningful insights, forecasts, and projections to guide business and departmental decisions
  • Handle local tax filings
  • Handle sales and use tax returns
  • Handle annual property tax filings
  • Ensure compliance for ESOP and 401(k) plans, contributing to smooth year‑end processes
  • Oversee fixed assets and lease schedules
  • Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations
  • Monitor and forecast cash flow
  • Maintain stock and related schedules
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Evaluate and improve accounting processes and controls
  • Assist with acquisition analysis
  • Prepare board‑level materials
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align financial strategy with company objectives
