About The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the company’s financial reporting, general ledger, and month-end close processes in a complex, mid-to-large scale organization. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate financial statements, compliance with GAAP, and the continuous improvement of accounting processes. The Senior Accountant works cross-functionally with finance, operations, and external auditors and provides guidance to junior accounting staff.

Requirements

  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience with complex general ledger structures
  • Proficiency with ERP systems; experience with Viewpoint/Vista and Dayforce a plus
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with financial reporting tools a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Sound judgment and a high level of integrity
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree a plus
  • CPA or CPA-eligible strongly preferred.
  • 6–10 years of progressive accounting or finance experience
  • Experience in public accounting and/or large private companies strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
  • Ensure accurate and timely completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal and external financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
  • Analyze financial results, investigate variances, and provide explanations to management.
  • Maintain and enforce internal controls over financial reporting.
  • Assist with SOX compliance activities, including documentation and testing.
  • Support external audits and tax engagements.
  • Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, efficiency, and controls.
  • Assist with ERP system enhancements, upgrades, or implementations.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for accounting processes and procedures.
  • Support automation and standardization initiatives across the accounting function.
  • Partner with FP&A, Operations, Tax, and other departments to support business initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and informal leadership to Staff Accountants or junior team members.
  • Assist with training and onboarding of new accounting staff.
  • Participate in special projects and ad hoc analyses as needed.
  • Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations.
