The Senior Accountant plays a pivotal role in maintaining and managing the financial health of the organization. This position involves overseeing various financial activities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, analyzing data, and providing strategic insights to support informed decision-making. The Senior Accountant collaborates with cross-functional departments to streamline processes and maintain compliance with accounting standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master's degree or CPA is a plus).
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in accounting or financial management roles.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis.
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with the ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Office, heavy focus on MS Excel intermediate to advance knowledge is required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Coordinate month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Reconcile accounts, review journal entries, and adjust discrepancies as necessary.
  • Journal entry preparation
  • Expense review and analysis
  • Cash accounting and bank reconciliations
  • Fixed asset and CIP accounting
  • Prepaid asset accounting
  • Complex tasks such as lease accounting, allocations, enterprise-level reconciliations
  • Actively participate in monthly operating review calls with facility leaders and operations management
  • Provide high-quality customer service to corporate department and facility leaders regarding accounting inquiries
  • Payroll accounting
  • Collaborate with the finance team to develop budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis, identifying trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Create financial models and scenarios to support strategic planning.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards, tax regulations, and relevant laws.
  • Prepare and submit required financial reports to regulatory bodies as needed.
  • Understanding of Internal Controls, compliance with Internal Controls.
  • Identify inefficiencies in financial processes and recommend solutions for improvement.
  • Implement best practices to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness.
  • Prepare policies, procedures and process flows.
  • Collaborate with auditors during internal and external audits.
  • Provide necessary documentation and explanations to support audit findings.
  • Assist in special projects and initiatives requiring financial expertise
  • Assist departments outside of accounting with various projects and requests
  • Research accounting guidance and make recommendations
  • Documentation of policies and procedures
  • Creative work in implementing/improving accounting processes
  • Participate in enterprise-level process improvements
  • Work closely with payroll team to maintain accounting structure and mapping in payroll system
  • Work closely with treasury team to ensure cash transfers are recorded timely
  • Set up state payroll tax accounts
  • Support the annual 401k audit
  • Maintain corporate allocations and ensure methodology is consistent with management agreements
  • Utilize accounting software and ERP systems to manage financial data, create reports, and streamline processes.
  • Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
