Position Overview OMG currently operates in two Divisions: OMG Roofing Products and FastenMaster®. OMG Roofing Products is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of value-added components for the commercial roofing industry. The FastenMaster Division manufactures and markets innovative, premium quality wood-to-wood fasteners that are engineered to enable professional contractors to complete building projects safer, faster, and easier. OMG’s Finance team is committed to the ethical, accurate and timely reporting of OMG’s financial position, adhering to company policy and procedures, industry’s best practices and generally accepted accounting principles. The Accountant is responsible for supporting the organization’s financial operations through accurate recording, analysis, and reporting of financial information. This role plays a key part in month-end and year-end close processes, general ledger maintenance, account reconciliations, and compliance with accounting standards. The Accountant works closely with the broader finance team to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and to support audits, budgeting, and continuous process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
  • Advanced computer skills including experience with MS Office Suite including Excel required.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral) skills with the ability to effectively articulate conclusions from analysis conducted, including challenges and opportunities.
  • Strong compliance to company values and ethics.
  • Positive attitude, good judgment, team-based, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle while maintaining focus on safe driving and avoiding all distractions when behind the wheel, especially cell phones.
  • Ability to stand, walk and sit for long periods of time; talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; handle or feel objects or controls, reach with hands and arms; and occasionally lift/push/pull/carry up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Promote Safety as the Number One Priority of all OMG employees.
  • Participate in the monthly closing process including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, supporting financial schedules and analysis of account activity and balances.
  • Compile schedules and support for internal and external audits
  • Prepare and maintain internal control narratives (i.e., Sarbanes-Oxley requirements)
  • Lead fixed assets and depreciation reporting
  • Complete monthly capital expenditures analysis and reporting
  • Prepare weekly trade margin reporting
  • Complete sales and use tax filings and assist in potential implementation of sales and use tax software.
  • Assist senior cost accountant with various analysis and plant activities
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities including kaizen events
  • Aid with analysis of variances, weekly inventory reporting and cost updates.
  • Help other departments as needed
  • Perform other duties as required.
