About The Position

Cornell Pump Company is a prominent leader in the centrifugal pump industry with over 75 years of experience and continuous growth. Our manufacturing facilities allow us to serve diverse markets such as Agriculture, Industrial, Municipal, Rental, and Mining. We are seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing team. This onsite role in Ashland, OH supports an affiliated company by combining strong accounting expertise with advanced data analysis, automation, and reporting skills to improve visibility into business performance and drive operational efficiencies. Location: On-site Ashland, OH Salary: $ 65,000 to $85,000 or $70,00 to $90,000 (CPA/CMA) DOE Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, reporting roles
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Advanced Excel skills (Power Query, Pivot Tables, complex formulas, macros preferred)
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • 1-2 years of team leading experience with small teams

Nice To Haves

  • CPA/CMA or progress toward certification
  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or multi-entity environments
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting systems
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Experience with BI tools (Power BI and UiPath strongly preferred)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Continuous improvement mindset

Responsibilities

  • Manage the accounting department, establish new accounting procedures and manage implementation of ERP system
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, variance analysis, and financial statements (GAAP)
  • Lead external & Internal audits, including preparation of schedules and auditor support
  • Implement automation solutions to reduce manual reporting and increase data accuracy
  • Support Cornell and its subsidiaries' business decision making process
  • Monitor accounting controls and identify opportunities to streamline processes
  • Conduct ad hoc accounting tasks and analyses to support strategic initiatives, pricing decisions, cost reduction, and forecasting
