The Senior Accountant is responsible for accounting functions in the Finance Department. Essential Functions/Core Competencies Responsible for the general ledger, cash management, special projects and financial tax reporting. Performs general ledger analysis and performance write up. Complies with department policies, procedures, internal controls and gaming regulations. Manages Accountant I and assist Manager/Directors to ensure all deliverables meeting deadlines set by the Parent Company. Performs month-end closing. Schedules monthly balance sheet review session with Director and VP Finance. Analyzes financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital. Prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize current and projected company financial position. Audits contracts, orders, and vouchers, and prepare reports to substantiate individual transactions prior to monthly close process. Establishes, modifies, documents, and coordinates the implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures. Documents financial transactions by entering account information. Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options. Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports. Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents. Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures. Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering questions. Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzes account information. Secures financial information by completing data base backups. Maintains financial security by following internal controls. Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements. Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations. Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends. Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential. Performs other tasks as assigned. BA/BS in accounting or related field. Three (3) years’ accounting experience Knowledge of all applicable statues and regulations. Ability to respond to common inquiries from other employees or guests. Fluency in English required, second language a plus. Ability to write detailed instructions and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and group situations. Mathematical Skills & Reasoning Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimal, and work with mathematical such as probability and inference. Ability to create, read and analyze spread sheets of statistical data. Ability to decipher various reports and maintains reports upon request.
