About The Position

This role supports the Company’s accounting function with an emphasis on monthly financial reporting, operational efficiency, and process optimization. The Senior Accountant owns the month-end close, prepares account reconciliations, and performs comparative and variance analysis. This position partners across the business to improve accounting processes, drive automation, and strengthen internal systems for recurring transaction processing. The position is also responsible for developing, implementing, and documenting scalable processes for routine transactions, as well as managing monthly sales commission calculations and supporting travel and expense reporting. The role will also assist with other projects, such as managing our preferred partner tracking process and the sales commission calculations. Location: This position is hybrid, based at our Dublin, OH campus .

Requirements

  • Four-year degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2-3 years' experience in an accounting related role
  • An aptitude for order, organization, and process
  • Keen attention to detail and the ability to identify and problem solve any exceptions noted during the close process
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills, including exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • A can-do attitude that is driven but patient and flexible when others don’t understand or prioritize similarly
  • An understanding of what is mission critical and what can be adapted
  • Ability to map existing processes and evaluate for improvement in efficiency and internal controls
  • Passion for advancing technical skills around accounting and related reporting software
  • Ability to manage priorities and projects spanning multiple departments
  • Exceptional critical thinking skills
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the Company’s general ledger, including the preparation and posting of complex journal entries.
  • Lead the monthly and quarterly financial close process by preparing journal entries and performing complex balance sheet and income statement, account reconciliations, including the identification and resolution of reconciling items.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation and support is maintained throughout the month.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly account variance analyses.
  • Perform account analytical analysis
  • Assist with the preparation of quarterly and yearly financial statements and the related footnotes and prepare supporting documentation.
  • Aid finance and treasury in creating the quarterly lender package.
  • Includes revisiting our accounting policy periodically to ensure proper application.
  • Support the year-end financial statement audit by working with our external auditors, including providing requested support and answering related questions.
  • Includes updating our annual accounting policy memos and creating new memos as necessary.
  • Document and keep updated various processes and policies related to accounting processes and the general ledger.
  • Prepare internal control documentation for accounting processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommendations.
  • Provide support to employees related to our travel and expense system, including monthly reporting.
  • Assist the Controller with monthly commission calculations and reporting.
  • Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
