About The Position

The Senior Accountant – General Ledger, Budget & Compliance is responsible for general ledger accounting, allocations, fund accounting, and budgeting support. This role ensures accurate financial reporting, maintains compliance with applicable requirements, and supports audit and financial planning processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of related experience.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, payroll, and financial reporting
  • Experience with Sage Intacct or similar accounting systems
  • Experience with Solver or similar budget and reporting systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including above average Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLookup)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in nonprofit accounting and financial reporting
  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end journal entries including allocations and adjustments
  • Record investment activity and other complex entries
  • Prepare and record all cost allocations (direct, indirect, occupancy, etc.)
  • Maintain net asset, restricted fund, and endowment rollforwards
  • Ensure proper classification of funds
  • Support annual budget process and coordinate with departments
  • Prepare and distribute departmental financial reports
  • Analyze budget vs. actual results and investigate variances
  • Maintain and update period forecasts based on actual results and changing assumptions
  • Work with budget managers to refine forecasts and identify risks, opportunities, and trends
  • Support GSA and other regulatory reporting requirements
  • Prepare audit schedules and support audit requests
  • Assist with contract tracking and compliance activities
  • Maintain Solver and ensure alignment with the general ledger
  • Ensure data integrity across systems
  • Support process improvements and documentation
  • Provide advice, support, reports to program managers and other staff as situations require.
