About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated Security Worker to join our team for the seasonal operation of our remote hotel in Glacier Bay, Alaska. This role is critical in ensuring the health, safety, and security of our property, guests, and seasonal employee base. The ideal candidate will be proactive, reliable, and adaptable to the unique challenges of working in a remote wilderness environment. About Glacier Bay Lodge & Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve: Ever wish you had more daylight hours? With 18 hours of daylight during the summer, recreation and sightseeing opportunities are never-ending! Glacier Bay Lodge is a small 50-room lodge nestled in between coastal mountains, incredible fjords, and Alaska's Inside Passage and is a remote wilderness experience you don’t want to miss. The only way to travel to us is by air or sea from Juneau to the friendly little town of Gustavus, your Gateway to Glacier Bay National Park & Preserve. Enjoy everything this remote park has to offer by becoming a part of our small family of around 50 employees for the summer of a lifetime! This is a seasonal role with ideal dates of May 14 - September 10, 2026. We offer competitive wages, paid sick leave, on-site housing and meal plan ($16/day all inclusive!), & local discounts! Employees are responsible for knowing the environmental aspects and associated impacts of their job position.  Job specific Environmental Aspects and Impacts will be communicated by Dept. Managers during EMS training.

Requirements

  • Prior experience in security, law enforcement, or hospitality safety preferred.
  • Strong communication and conflict-resolution skills.
  • The ability to gather and interpret information and to accurately complete required reporting procedures
  • Knowledgeable in search and seizure, constitutional rights, investigative, and interviewing techniques
  • Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.
  • Comfortable working in a remote, wilderness setting with limited resources.
  • Physically capable of performing patrols and responding to emergencies.
  • Able to work independently and under indirect supervision
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in all investigations, incidents, etc.
  • Requires occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 25 lb
  • Requires frequent standing, walking, and climbing stairs
  • Must be able to work - days, nights, overnights, weekends, holidays as required by location
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Must have a valid driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Monitor hotel grounds, facilities, and common areas to ensure a safe environment.
  • Respond promptly to incidents, emergencies, or safety concerns involving guests or staff.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the property, including guest accommodations, staff housing, and service areas.
  • Safeguard against theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access.
  • Act as first responder in medical, fire, or security emergencies.
  • Coordinate with local authorities and emergency services when necessary.
  • Lead drills and preparedness exercises for staff.
  • Maintain accurate incident reports and daily activity logs.
  • Ensure compliance with hotel policies, safety protocols, and state/federal regulations.
  • Provide courteous assistance to guests and employees.
  • Support seasonal staff by fostering a safe and respectful workplace culture.
