About The Position

The FWCD Security Officer is the front line of protecting the school community and managing risk in a manner respectful of the school core values, culture and climate. The officer helps to provide an environment that ensures the student’s safety and supports the school’s mission. The FWCD Security Officer reports directly to the Director and/or the Assistant Director of Security and Safety. We are seeking a dependable, caring, and community-minded individual to join our team as a Part-Time School Security Officer. This is an as-needed position with flexible scheduling, ideal for someone seeking supplemental income while balancing family, school and other commitments. We need Part-Time officers to assist us during large events and when a full-time officer is off. The Security Officer is responsible for delivering essential security services while upholding the duties and privileges inherent to the position. This role ensures the safety and security of the campus through regular patrols, traffic regulation, and the protection of the rights and property of students, faculty, staff, and the broader FWCD community. Security Officers are expected to maintain the highest standards of professionalism at all times. As representatives of the community and role models for students, they must present themselves with integrity, respect, and accountability. A neat and clean appearance is required, and adherence to the school’s dress code and grooming standards is mandatory. This role is perfect for someone who values building positive relationships with students, supporting a safe and welcoming school environment, and serving as a calm, reassuring presence on campus. Individuals with backgrounds in caregiving, education, community service, youth programs, or customer service are especially encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Texas Driver’s License
  • Ability to pass all certifications and qualifications related to the position.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to observe and report security-related issues.
  • The capacity to remain alert and focused during patrols and monitoring.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to interact with the school community in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Adherence to ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Compliance with all school policies, training, and regulations.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to stand, walk, and perform regular patrols for extended periods.
  • The capability to respond to emergencies and assist with evacuations or first aid.
  • Must be able to pass background check and any required clearances.
  • Must be a self-starter, mature, reliable, and need little supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Patrolling of the campus-The primary duty of the security officer is to provide a sense of “presence.”
  • Campus Access-To assist with the orderly flow of traffic on and off campus.
  • Building Access-The security officers control the access to buildings.
  • Issuance of parking stickers-The security department issues parking stickers and maintains a list of sticker numbers so that the owners of vehicles may be easily and quickly identified.
  • Investigations-When situations develop on campus that is a violation of the law, a dangerous act, or a violation of the rules of FWCD; it should be brought to the attention of the security officer.
  • Medical emergencies-Although the school has two trainers and a nurse on staff, the security officer may be needed to stabilize a student, faculty/staff member, parent or visitor.
  • Information-Security officers spend much of their time dispensing information and giving directions.
  • Emergency responses-FWCD has emergency procedures to deal with an assortment of emergencies.
  • Safety Prevention-The security department is the only department that operates 24 hours a day.
  • Facilities/Structure Patrol-As mentioned above, the security department is the only department that operates on a 24-hour basis.
  • Violations of vehicle/parking regulations-The school, through the student-parent handbooks or administration permission-has established regulations concerning the flow of traffic and the parking of vehicles.
  • Visitor Management-The school is a private institution and only allows visitors, deliveries and contractors that are authorized to enter.
  • Special Events-Officers are required to work during large special events such as varsity football games, carnivals, graduation, college fair, and other designated events.
  • Enforce access control policies, verifying the identity of students, staff, and visitors.
  • Issue visitor badges and maintain visitor logs.
  • Control access to school facilities, ensuring only authorized individuals are allowed entry.
  • Monitor surveillance cameras and alarms to ensure campus safety.
  • Report and respond to any suspicious activity or security incidents.
  • Assist in emergency responses, such as fire drills, evacuations, and medical incidents.
  • Collaborate with emergency responders and provide support during safety drills and actual emergencies.
  • Report safety concerns or incidents to the appropriate authorities and supervisors.
  • Ensure compliance with school safety policies and regulations.
  • Monitor safety equipment, such as fire extinguishers and emergency exit, to verify functionality.
  • Conduct regular security and safety inspections.
  • Provide a welcoming and helpful presence to students, parents, staff, and visitors.
  • Assist with directions, inquiries, and information about campus facilities.
  • Maintain professionalism and a positive attitude when interacting with the school community.
  • Document security-related incidents, accidents, and safety violations.
  • Prepare written reports and maintain accurate records of security activities.
  • Participate in security debriefings and investigations.
  • Other duties as assigned
