About The Position

As a Security Officer - TWIC Harbor Rover in New York, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a busy government transportation waterfront location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, maintain a visible presence that helps reduce security-related incidents, and support riders and staff with clear communication and customer service. You will document observations, respond to calls for assistance, and work with a team that is agile, reliable, and innovative, always acting with integrity in a people-first culture.

Requirements

  • Have at least 1 year of security experience.
  • Have a TSA issued TWIC.
  • A guard card/license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors, commuters, and staff by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government transportation location.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols of terminals, waiting areas, docks, parking areas, and perimeter points to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or identify maintenance or operational concerns.
  • Monitor access points, check credentials as directed, and help direct pedestrian traffic, lines, and deliveries in accordance with site rules and posted instructions.
  • Respond to incidents, alarms, and requests for assistance in a calm, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and actions taken.
  • Complete required reports, logs, and shift handoffs, and communicate promptly with site contacts and/or public responders when conditions require escalation.
