Job Description As a Security Officer - Retail - Unarmed in Chicago, IL , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a busy retail and mall location, you will conduct routine patrols, stay highly visible to help discourage security-related incidents, support access control, and respond to guest and team member needs with clear communication and strong customer service. Requirements
- The client requires proof of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

- Customer service experience is preferred.
- Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a retail location.
- Conduct regular and random foot patrols of interior areas, exterior perimeter, parking areas, and common walkways to help to deter unwanted activity and identify hazards or maintenance issues.
- Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with site management and/or public responders as needed.
- Monitor entrances, dining areas, and surrounding property for suspicious behavior, policy violations, and customer disputes, and use de-escalation techniques when appropriate.
- Complete routine reports and incident documentation, communicate observations to Allied Universal leadership and the client, and assist with access control, key control, and/or closing procedures as assigned.
