As an unarmed patrol officer at an education location, you will monitor assigned areas, conduct routine foot patrols, and remain highly visible to help to deter security-related incidents. You will support access points, assist students, staff, and visitors with clear communication and customer service, and document observations and incidents. Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to lift more than 20 pounds is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Ability to ride a bike for long periods of time is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out Allied Universal and site-specific security-related procedures, access guidelines, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations on campus in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with campus resources and/or local responders as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of academic buildings, common areas, residence hall exteriors, parking areas, and perimeter routes; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor and report unusual activity, hazards, and maintenance concerns observed during patrols, and complete timely documentation such as activity logs and incident reports.
  • Support access control and key locations as assigned, including observing entrances, verifying identification and/or authorization when required, and helping to deter unauthorized entry and/or disruptive behavior.
