As an unarmed patrol officer at a busy education location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds on foot and/or by bike, support access control and badge checks, and respond to security-related concerns with calm, clear communication. You will stay visible to help to deter incidents, assist students, staff, and visitors with a service-first mindset, and work as part of an agile, reliable, innovative team that leads with integrity.

Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to lift more than 20 lbs is preferred.
  • Ability to ride a bike for long periods of time is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of campus buildings, residence areas, parking facilities, and perimeter routes; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor access points and common areas, observe for policy violations or unusual activity, and help to deter unauthorized entry and/or disruptive behavior.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including assisting with de-escalation, requesting appropriate resources, and completing incident documentation.
  • Communicate clearly with Allied Universal supervision, campus partners, and/or local responders using radios and/or phones, and complete daily activity logs and required reports.
