About The Position

As a Security Officer - Gatehouse in Madison, WI, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Allied Universal Access Control Officer at a busy logistics and distribution location, you will welcome drivers and employees, verify credentials, manage entry and exit points, and support visitor and trailer check-in. You will maintain a visible presence, complete routine rounds as assigned, document security-related activity, and communicate clearly with site teams. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to personnel, visitors, and drivers by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
  • Control access at entry and exit points by verifying identification, checking visitor and/or driver authorization, issuing temporary credentials as directed, and documenting entries and exits.
  • Screen inbound and outbound traffic by coordinating with receiving and shipping staff, checking bills of lading and/or load information as required by post orders, and directing vehicles to designated areas.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including reporting hazards, suspicious activity, and policy violations through required communication channels.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of access control areas, docks, yard lanes, and perimeter points as assigned. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.
