About The Position

As a Security Officer - Gatehouse Access Control in Perryville, MD, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Logistics & Distribution, and more. As an Allied Universal Access Control Officer at a busy logistics and distribution location, you will greet drivers and team members, verify credentials, manage visitor and truck check-in, and monitor entry points and CCTV for security-related concerns. You will conduct routine patrols of key areas, stay highly visible to help discourage incidents, and communicate clearly with site leaders. Bring an agile, reliable, and integrity-driven approach that supports teamwork and great customer service.

Requirements

  • A guard card and/or license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, drivers, vendors, and visitors while carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
  • Control access at entrances, gates, and/or guard stations by verifying identification and authorization, issuing badges and/or passes, maintaining visitor and contractor logs, and directing traffic flow for trucks and passenger vehicles.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including documenting events, notifying the appropriate contacts, and assisting with site response protocols.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of the building, loading docks, yard, parking areas, and perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access and/or suspicious activity, and report hazards and maintenance concerns.
  • Monitor cameras, access control systems, and alarms as assigned, and complete routine reports such as shift logs, incident reports, and shipping and receiving checkpoint documentation.
