Requirements

  • Have 3+ years' combined law enforcement and/or military and/or security experience or a college degree.
  • Be 21+ years of age.
  • Have security experience of 5+ years.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and/or First Aid is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to visitors and staff at a government location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control access to the facility by verifying identification, issuing visitor credentials, maintaining sign-in and sign-out logs and directing visitors to approved areas.
  • Screen and process employees, contractors, deliveries and service providers in accordance with post orders and site access requirements.
  • Operate access control systems such as badge readers, key control, gate arms and visitor management platforms, and report malfunctions or irregularities.
  • Monitor CCTV, intrusion alarms and other security-related systems, respond to alarms and dispatch resources as directed.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including conflicts, trespassing, suspicious activity and medical situations, and request public emergency services when needed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter, including lobbies, stairwells, parking areas and restricted areas as assigned. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.
  • Write clear incident reports and daily activity logs, document access issues, policy violations and maintenance concerns, and communicate updates during shift turnovers.
  • Provide directions, answer questions and assist with queuing and crowd flow during peak entry times, public meetings and special events.
  • Support emergency procedures such as evacuations, shelter-in-place and lockdown activities as directed by post orders and/or site leadership.
  • Coordinate with site representatives and Allied Universal supervision to help to deter unauthorized access and support a professional presence at entrances and control points.
