About The Position

As a Security Officer - Entry Gate Control in Sterling, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. As an Access Control Officer at a leading tech and telecom location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, issue and track badges, monitor alarms and cameras, and document activity using computer and/or tablet systems. Your visible presence and clear communication help to deter security-related incidents while delivering a welcoming customer service experience. Requirements

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

  • Being comfortable using a computer and/or tablet is preferred.
  • A CPR certification is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to site personnel and visitors by following site-specific access control procedures, security-related policies, and/or emergency response activities when appropriate.
  • Control entry and exit at designated access points by verifying identification, issuing and collecting badges and/or visitor credentials, and documenting visitor, contractor, and delivery activity per site requirements.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and access control systems, and report unusual conditions or policy violations to site leadership and/or Allied Universal supervision.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including initiating notifications, completing reports, and supporting on-site response procedures.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of entrances, loading areas, equipment rooms, and the perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access and/or suspicious activity.
