Security Officer - Entry Desk Monitor
About The Position
As a Security Officer - Entry Desk Monitor in Long Island City, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Education, and more. As a Front Desk Officer in an educational location, you will be the welcoming first point of contact, helping to monitor access, assist students, staff, and visitors, and support a secure environment through strong communication and attention to detail. At Allied Universal, you will bring a caring, reliable, and professional approach while working with integrity and teamwork to support daily security-related operations.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, and visitors by following site-specific policies, front desk procedures, and appropriate emergency response activities.
- Monitor lobby and reception areas, manage visitor check-in processes, verify identification and/or access credentials, and report unusual activity or concerns to the appropriate contacts.
- Respond to incidents, questions, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner while supporting a professional presence at the front desk.
- Answer phones, provide directions, document daily activity and/or incidents, and communicate important information to site leadership and Allied Universal management.
- Help to deter unauthorized access by observing entry points, maintaining awareness of who enters and exits the location, and following established escalation procedures when needed.
