As an Armed Patrol Officer at a government corrections location, you will monitor grounds and key areas through routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help to deter security-related incidents, and respond to calls for assistance with clear communication and strong customer service. Requirements

  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • A valid firearms permit is preferred.
  • An armed guard card/license is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and/or contractors by following site-specific procedures, post orders, and emergency response activities within a government location.
  • Carry, maintain, and account for authorized duty weapon and related equipment in accordance with applicable laws, licensing requirements, and Allied Universal policies.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including de-escalation, radio communications, and timely notification of site leadership and/or public responders.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas to help to deter prohibited activity, identify irregular conditions, and support controlled movement protocols.
  • Monitor access points and controlled areas, verify identification and/or authorization, document security-related activity, and support screening and contraband control procedures as directed by site policy.
