About The Position

As a Security Officer - Cultural Patrol Officer in Philadelphia, PA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Cultural Institutions, and more. As an unarmed patrol officer with Allied Universal at a renowned cultural institution, you will monitor and patrol galleries, entrances, and public spaces to help support a welcoming environment for guests and staff. You will complete routine rounds, stay highly visible to help deter security-related incidents, respond to concerns, and communicate clearly with your team. Requirements

  • Customer Service experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to guests, staff, and vendors by carrying out Allied Universal security-related procedures, location-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout gallery spaces, public areas, back-of-house corridors, loading areas, and the perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify irregular conditions.
  • Monitor entrances and designated access points, verifying visitor flow, staff credentials, and delivery protocols in accordance with location procedures.
  • Observe and report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and potential hazards, escalating concerns to location leadership and/or emergency services as required.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, providing clear directions to visitors and coordinating with on-site personnel.
  • Assist with crowd management during peak attendance, special events, and exhibit openings, helping to maintain orderly lines and appropriate conduct.
  • Operate and/or monitor security-related systems such as CCTV, intrusion alarms, fire panels, and radio communications in accordance with post orders.
  • Complete accurate documentation including shift activity logs, incident reports, and daily patrol reports, using clear and timely written communication.
  • Support protection of artwork and exhibit areas by enforcing posted rules, addressing prohibited items and behaviors, and reporting potential damage or tampering.
  • Interact professionally with a diverse public, providing directions, answering general questions, and referring visitors to appropriate location resources while maintaining assigned post responsibilities.
