About The Position

As a Security Officer - Courthouse Screener in Detroit, MI , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. Join Allied Universal as an unarmed Patrol Officer supporting a government location. You will monitor and patrol assigned areas, conduct routine rounds, stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and respond to reports with calm, clear communication. You will document observations, assist visitors and staff with professional customer service, and work as part of a team that is agile, reliable, innovative, and committed to integrity and a people-first culture.

Requirements

Possess a valid Concealed Carry Weapons Permit.
Client requires proof of a high school diploma or equivalent.
Be at least 21 years of age.
Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

Provide customer service to guests, employees, and visitors at a government location by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
Perform access control duties such as monitoring entry points, verifying credentials when required, and directing visitors to the appropriate department or point of contact.
Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating to supervisors and/or local authorities as needed.
Conduct regular and random foot patrols of buildings, corridors, parking areas, and perimeter areas, with working environments and conditions that may vary by site.
Monitor surveillance cameras, alarms, and/or other security-related systems to help identify unusual activity and report concerns.
Document and report daily activities, incidents, and observations using written logs and/or electronic reporting systems.
Assist with crowd and traffic flow during public meetings, events, and peak visitor periods, following site instructions and applicable procedures.
Provide general information and directions to the public while maintaining awareness of security-related concerns.
Support emergency and non-emergency procedures such as evacuations, severe weather response, and/or medical response by following post orders and communicating updates to the appropriate contacts.
Perform other security-related duties as assigned in accordance with site policies and Allied Universal standards.
