Job Description As a Security Officer - Bank ID Screener in Columbus, OH , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Financial Institutions, and more. As a Screener with Allied Universal at a high-traffic financial institution location, you will help manage access by greeting visitors, verifying credentials, and directing people to the right areas. You will stay visible at key entry points, communicate clearly with staff and guests, and support security-related incident response as needed. Requirements

  • Have at least 1 year of security-related experience.
  • Provide proof of a high school diploma or GED as required by the client.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients and visitors by following Allied Universal security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Screen employees, visitors, contractors, and vendors at designated entry points using site-approved methods, including verifying identification, confirming access authorization, and directing individuals to the appropriate area.
  • Operate walk-through metal detectors and/or handheld screening devices as required, and coordinate secondary screening when needed according to site procedures.
  • Inspect bags, packages, and deliveries when authorized by post orders, and document prohibited or restricted items found during screening.
  • Maintain access control by monitoring entry and exit points, controlling visitor flow, and supporting orderly queuing during peak traffic periods.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, and/or access control systems, and report irregular activity or equipment concerns through the proper channels.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including requesting additional support, documenting observations, and assisting with scene control as directed.
  • Complete daily activity logs, screening logs, and incident reports with clear, accurate, and timely information.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the location, interior areas, and perimeter as assigned, with working environments and conditions varying by site.
  • Provide directions and general assistance to visitors, assist with lost and found procedures as directed, and escalate concerns to site leadership and/or Allied Universal supervision when needed.
  • Support security-related loss prevention measures by observing for unusual behavior and reporting concerns that may help to deter unauthorized access, theft, and/or disruptive conduct.
  • Participate in post briefings, follow communications protocols, and use radios and/or phones to coordinate with site staff and emergency responders when required.
