Requirements

  • Possess an armed guard card or license.
  • Have at least 6 months of armed security-related, law enforcement, and/or military experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and/or the public by carrying out site-specific procedures, access control activities, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government corrections location.
  • Respond to incidents, disturbances, and/or critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, documenting observations and reporting security-related concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols throughout assigned buildings, grounds, parking areas, and perimeter zones to help to deter unauthorized activity and identify unusual conditions.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and restricted areas, verify credentials and/or permissions, and help to enforce post orders, location rules, and applicable government facility protocols.
  • Support emergency and law enforcement response efforts by maintaining situational awareness, communicating clearly by radio and/or phone, and following Allied Universal procedures for armed posts.
