About The Position

As a Security Officer - Access Control Entry in Spring Valley, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As an Allied Universal Security Officer in a utilities location, you will manage access control, verify credentials, and help maintain orderly entry for employees, contractors, and visitors. You will conduct routine patrols, stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and document activity using site systems. Bring strong communication and customer service while supporting a caring, agile, and reliable team that delivers through innovation, teamwork, and integrity.

Requirements

  • Have 1 or more years of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet, preferred.
  • Have customer service experience, preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to all persons on site by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities at a utilities location.
  • Control access at gates, lobbies, and/or checkpoints by verifying identification, issuing and retrieving badges, managing visitor and contractor sign-in, and directing approved individuals to designated areas.
  • Monitor access control systems, cameras, and alarms as assigned, documenting irregular activity and reporting concerns according to post orders to help to deter unauthorized entry.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating notifications and supporting site personnel and/or first responders as directed.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of assigned areas, including perimeter and restricted zones, checking doors, fences, and equipment areas for unusual conditions and reporting findings per site policy.
