Job Description As a Security Officer - Access Control Driver in Rensselaer, NY , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Healthcare, and more. As an Access Control Officer in a healthcare location, you will help manage entry points, verify credentials, and guide staff, patients, and visitors with a calm, customer-focused approach. You will conduct routine patrols and remain visible to help reduce security-related incidents while documenting activity and communicating clearly with site teams. This is a driving post requiring a valid driver’s license, supported by Allied Universal’s agile, reliable, innovative, people-first culture grounded in teamwork and integrity.

Requirements

  • Have 1+ years of security experience.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to patients, visitors, vendors, and/or staff by following site-specific access control procedures, security-related protocols, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Control entry and exit at designated access points by confirming authorization, issuing visitor credentials, and directing individuals to appropriate locations within the facility.
  • Monitor alarms, cameras, and/or access control systems and report irregular activity, maintenance issues, and policy concerns through required documentation and notification channels.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, coordinating with onsite personnel and/or local responders as directed by site procedures.
  • Conduct routine security-related rounds of assigned interior areas to help to deter unauthorized access, verify doors and restricted areas are maintained per policy, and document observations per post orders.
