About The Position

As a Security Officer - Access Control Coordinator in Somerset, NJ, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Tech/Media/Telecom, and more. Join Allied Universal at a leading tech location where you will manage access control and visitor badging, support security-related screenings, and conduct routine patrols to help maintain site standards. You will monitor alarm activity, document incidents, and communicate clearly with staff and guests while using computers and/or tablets to track activity. Requirements

  • Have 2+ years of security-related experience.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Nice To Haves

  • Alarm panel experience is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer or tablet is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to clients and visitors at a tech-focused location by following security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities when appropriate.
  • Control access at entry points by checking identification, issuing temporary badges as directed, managing visitor logs, and verifying authorization for contractors, deliveries, and scheduled appointments.
  • Monitor security-related systems such as CCTV, alarms, and access control panels, and report unusual activity or policy concerns to site leadership using required documentation.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including initiating notifications and supporting emergency procedures as directed by post orders.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of interior areas, loading docks, and the perimeter to help to deter unauthorized access and/or policy violations; working environments and conditions may vary by site.
