About The Position

As a Security Guard - Armed Patrol Driver in Elizabeth City, NC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government corrections location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and remain highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents. This post requires an armed guard card or license and a valid driver’s license under AU Driver Policy requirements for mobile response and site support. You will provide clear communication, strong customer service, and act with integrity as part of a reliable team.

Requirements

  • An armed guard card/license is required.
  • A minimum of 6 months of armed security-related, law enforcement, and/or military experience is required.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service to staff, visitors, and/or contractors by following site-specific security-related procedures and government facility policies, and by supporting emergency response activities when appropriate.
  • Conduct armed foot and/or vehicle patrols of buildings, grounds, and perimeter areas, making observations that help to deter unauthorized activity and reporting unusual conditions.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including disturbances, medical calls, and/or fire alarms, and request law enforcement and/or medical assistance as directed by post orders.
  • Control access at designated points by verifying identification, screening visitors and/or vehicles, maintaining visitor logs, and following procedures for restricted areas and controlled items.
  • Complete required reports and documentation such as incident reports, patrol logs, and chain of custody records, and communicate status updates to site leadership and/or Allied Universal supervision.
