About The Position

As the Section manager you will lead a multi-faceted team to ensure quality re-underwriting and re-underwriting initiatives decisions are made while supporting and working with Desjardins Agent Network (DAN) agents. You are responsible for managing your team’s service offer, shaping and executing its business plan, and working closely with the Team Lead to oversee all activities that support the department’s key priorities. With a strong ability to develop talent and deliver results, you effectively lead people and performance, generate insightful reports, and ensure exceptional member and client satisfaction. You lead and guide the Renewals and Specialized Transactions Underwriting Team, providing clear direction and tactical support to ensure goals are achieved. Working closely with the Team Lead, you oversee operations to maintain efficient, streamlined processes and guarantee that service objectives are consistently met. You proactively identify inefficiencies, eliminate redundancies, and implement improvements that optimize workflows and enhance overall performance. You drive management practices and communication strategies that inspire positive change, strengthen skills, boost employee engagement, and promote talent retention and diversity—all while staying true to Desjardins’ core values. More specifically, you will be required to: Lead and organize team activities to deliver timely, high-quality service to agents and external customers. Monitor performance, report results, and take corrective action when needed to keep standards high. Analyze data and make sound decisions that balance immediate priorities with long-term business success. Drive responsible growth initiatives that ensure profitability while championing strategies for sustainable success. Collaborate with key stakeholders across departments (Claims, Agency Operations, etc.) to align business strategies with organizational goals. Coach, guide, and inspire your team by providing continuous development. Ensure quality standards are met, motivate team members to excel, and encourage active participation in identifying solutions that boost productivity and quality. Manage high-volume renewal periods by keeping the team focused, energized, and on track to meet deadlines. Provide clear direction and consistent feedback to help team members grow their underwriting expertise in line with company philosophy. Foster an inclusive, engaging work environment by implementing practices that promote teamwork, collaboration, and employee satisfaction within a diverse workforce.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field
  • A minimum of nine years of relevant experience including three years of management experience
  • Experience with process improvement or efficient work principles for a team of individuals
  • Underwriting experience or previous management role/leadership experience
  • Experience in both Auto and Property underwriting
  • Experience in Property and Casualty claims
  • Completed or enrolled in CIP program
  • Expert proficiency in English due to the nature of the duties or work tools or because the position involves interactions with English speaking partners, members and/or clients
  • Advanced knowledge of the Desjardins Agent Network (DAN)
  • Advanced knowledge company/corporate culture
  • Advanced knowledge and demonstration of Management principles and process management
  • Advanced knowledge of computer tools such as Microsoft Office
