The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Children’s Minnesota is seeking a pathology physician to serve as Section Director of Transfusion Medicine—a rare opportunity to lead, innovate, and shape the future of pediatric transfusion and cellular therapy services. In this exciting leadership role, you will provide strategic and clinical oversight of the Transfusion Medicine Service. The service currently performs approximately 9,000 transfusions per year and is accredited by the College of American Pathologists (CAP), the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Your guidance will be instrumental in supporting the continued growth and expansion of the program, ensuring that the highest standards are maintained throughout this exciting period of advancement. With full institutional approval already secured, the program is actively pursuing FACT accreditation, opening the door to expanded care for children with cancer and blood disorders.This next chapter includes the expansion of cellular and gene therapy services and autologous bone marrow transplantation. Candidates with experience building or advancing cellular therapy programs toward FACT accreditation will find a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact. You’ll join a collegial, multispecialty group of eight pathologists within a department known for strong collaboration and close consultative relationships across clinical and surgical services.
