Under the supervision of the Deputy Friend of the court, performs a variety of clerical and accounting processing functions involved in processing and enforcement of domestic relations cases. Activities include processing court orders, petitions, orders to show cause, bench warrants, scheduling referee and court hearings, preparing files for court and referee hearings; preparing recommendations from referee hearings; obtaining personal and case information from clients; screening telephone calls; providing information to clients about case status and court policies and procedures; receipting child support payments into the computer system, entering case information into the computer; maintaining records of active Friend of the Court cases, making account adjustments and modifications as indicated and aid in medical enforcement. Essential Functions Enters necessary employment and income information, prepares approved income withholding orders and notifications and mails to employers and payers. Enters and computes account modifications for abatements, payment increases and decreases. Interprets and enters new and subsequent court orders, which include case closures, case consolidations and case transfers into the computer system, and adjusts account balances as indicated. Processes referrals from DHHS, runs and processes alerts on cases where children may receive Foster Care services. May have to communicate with Michigan Family/Probate Courts when children are placed out of the home to obtain necessary court orders for redirection of child support. Receives and directs phone calls, takes messages or answers questions regarding court policy and procedure and provides case information to parties as appropriate. Enters original and modified orders and stipulations into the computer, mails notices to the appropriate parties and schedules future hearings in accordance with court orders. Prepares court orders, petitions for bench warrants, and orders to show cause and distributes notices to appropriate parties as instructed. Prepares case files for court and referee hearings; ensures that current case and payment history as well as other relevant documentation is included. Maintains records and reports in order to compile case activity information for required reports. Schedules and prepares notices for referee hearings and prepares computer for digital recordings. Prepares files for de novo hearings at request of parties. Transcribes and enters referee recommendations, notes objections and distributes copies and logs statistics as appropriate. Drafts or otherwise prepares and distributes a variety of correspondence relating to enforcement of court orders as indicated. Prepares and processes petitions for liens, custody, parenting time, notifies parties, and conducts follow-up notification after court hearing. Registers foreign orders and coordinates de novo hearings as necessary. Performs account adjustments relative to tax offsets, and refunds for public assistance, confinement, medical accounts, service fees and court costs as indicated. Prepares reports for various agencies and provided requested account information to the Department of Health and Human Services as authorized by court access to records and confidentiality policy. Processing Department of Health and Human Services certifications and decertification; establishes, adjusts or terminates accounts accordingly. Operates a variety of office machines such as copier, calculator, typewriter, computer terminal, scanner and printer. Accepts, receipts, and posts account payments made at payment windows or via mail. Runs computer generated reports and case histories. Answers questions and provides information to parties regarding account status as requested and appropriately directs parties seeking non-account information and schedules appointments for caseworkers as necessary. Generates and distributes medical support enforcement documents and notifications to the parties and forwards information to the Caseworkers for enforcement as assigned. Calculates medical expenses due to parties, and notices to insured, insurance carriers, and employers as assigned. Responds to medical support enforcement questions and issues, and remains informed of medical support enforcement system updates and issues as assigned. Scans closed files. Schedule appointments regarding Direct Payment Credits, Stipulated Orders, abatements, etc. and also prepare the orders/paperwork for those appointments. Prepare SMILE certificates and mail certificates upon completion to clients.
