About The Position

Ascension Catholic School is seeking a faith-filled, nurturing, and highly qualified Second Grade Teacher who is dedicated to forming students academically, spiritually, and socially in a Christ-centered environment. The ideal candidate brings warmth, creativity, and strong instructional practices to support young learners during this foundational year of growth and discovery. Job ResponsibilitiesThe Second Grade Teacher will provide engaging, standards-based instruction in core subject areas, including reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. This educator will foster strong literacy and numeracy skills, encourage curiosity and critical thinking, and differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students. Emphasis is placed on developing independence, responsibility, and a love of learning. As a Catholic school educator, the teacher will intentionally integrate faith into daily instruction and classroom life, modeling Gospel values and guiding students in prayer, virtue, and service. Preparation for sacramental milestones (if applicable within the school) and participation in liturgies and school-wide faith activities are important aspects of the role. The successful candidate will create a structured, positive, and supportive classroom environment where each child feels valued and challenged. Strong communication and partnership with parents, collaboration with colleagues, and active participation in the school community are essential.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education or a related field (required)
  • Valid state teaching certification (required)
  • Commitment to the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church

  • Practicing Catholic preferred
  • Prior elementary teaching experience (preferred)
