About The Position

Molly Moon’s Homemade Ice Cream is a multi-generational gathering place with happiness and sustainability at the core of everything we do! From kitchen to cone, every scoop we serve is the result of our dedicated culinary and hospitality teams, strong community partnerships, sustainable practices, and our commitment to sourcing only the finest local ingredients. Our Seasonal Ice Cream Makers craft the delicious ice cream and toppings that keep our scoop shops well stocked and our customers happy. You'll start your shift planning the day’s production schedule with your chef, then work independently to follow recipes and efficiently produce high-volume batches of our signature treats. It’s fast-paced, hands-on work in an energetic environment where you work alongside your chef, fellow ice cream makers, and our hospitality and delivery teams. This is an ideal summer job for detail-oriented multi-taskers who take pride in checking items off their prep list and seeing the tangible results of their work. Requirements

  • Candidates must be 18 years old or older
  • Passion for food, cooking, teamwork, and quality
  • Flexibility and ability to adapt to changing plans and priorities in order to maximize productivity
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Consistently demonstrates willingness to learn and ability to follow instructions with precision.
  • Adheres to high standards for cleanliness, organization, and attention to detail while maintaining a focus on time management.
  • Able to stand for 8hrs, lift up to 50lbs repeatedly, & work in a freezer for up to 20 minutes at a time
  • Available 20+ hours a week including weekdays and weekends as late as 11pm.
  • Have internet and cell phone access to check slack, email, and view your schedule
  • Washington State food handler’s permit must be obtained before your first day of work.
  • No planned absences longer than 4 days in a row, June 1st through August 31st.

Nice To Haves

  • Willingness to pick up shifts in other kitchens on occasion strongly preferred
  • Professional kitchen, food production or culinary school experience a plus, but is not required

Responsibilities

  • Meet production efficiency and quality standards
  • Accurately follow recipes including scaling up or down appropriately for production needs
  • Measure ingredients and perform basic kitchen math
  • Consistently produce between 32 and 64 + tubs of fresh ice cream each shift
  • Label, date, pack, and store 100+ pints of ice cream each day
  • Taste every batch of ice cream and toppings you produce to ensure the flavor and texture meet our quality standards. Identify and communicate any deviations from standard to your chef.
  • Prepare ingredients and produce homemade bases, toppings, and inclusions such as hot fudge, cookie dough, caramel sauces, fruit compotes, baked items, etc.
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
  • Keep all areas of kitchen clean and organized during your shift. Complete daily cleaning tasks and periodic deep cleaning as assigned.
  • Accurately inventory tubs, pints, toppings, and bases to inform the daily production plan; participate in monthly shop inventory as needed
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with peers, managers, and hospitality staff
