About The Position

The Sea Export Team Lead is responsible for overseeing daily operational activities within the Sea Export department. This role ensures functional excellence, high productivity, regulatory compliance, and superior customer satisfaction. The Team Lead also supports current customer portfolio growth and engages in continuous improvement efforts to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of freight forwarding customer service experience.
  • AES/FMC knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to perform calculations involving exchange rates, percentages, and volumetric conversions.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Business, Logistics, or related field preferred.
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods (DG) requirements and/or pharmaceutical trade is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily communication with customers, agents, and internal colleagues.
  • Engage with regular and potential customers to identify and generate new or expanded business opportunities.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of FMC rules and regulations and understand their application to LEMAN’s business operations.
  • Ensure all shipments meet customer service level standards.
  • Ensure legal compliance with government export regulations and proper export administration, including securing appropriate licensing for ocean shipments.
  • Prepare price quotations and route outbound international freight.
  • Prepare and manage export documentation, including BL, HBL, SED, and cargo manifests.
  • Create rate quotes and secure bookings according to customer requests.
  • Maintain accurate and current customer profiles.
  • Accurately invoice customers and agents in a timely manner.
  • Ensure LEMAN receives complete, accurate, and timely billing from vendors and agents.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
  • Manage and balance the workload of Ocean Export department staff; recommend staffing changes when necessary.
  • Promote a business environment that upholds LEMAN’s ethical standards, integrity, and corporate values.
  • Regularly research and propose new methods or procedures to improve department efficiency.
