About The Position

CTG is seeking to fill a Scrum Master II opening for our client. Location: Remote (Onsite preferred in Buffalo, NY) Duration: 8 months Overview: The Scrum Master II provides servant leadership and mentorship to multiple cross-functional Agile teams, ensuring effective application of Agile frameworks including Scrum, Kanban, and Extreme Programming (XP). This role focuses on fostering a culture of continuous improvement, enabling team self-organization, and driving collaboration and transparency across teams and stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings a strong Scrum foundation complemented by project management experience and deep expertise in Jira to support Agile delivery and reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 4 years of experience as a member of an Agile team, including at least 2 years as a Scrum Master
  • OR
  • In lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 8 years of higher education and/or relevant work experience, including at least 4 years on Agile teams and 2 years as a Scrum Master
  • Strong hands-on experience with Agile tools, particularly Jira
  • Solid understanding of Scrum, Kanban, and other Agile frameworks
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in Project Management in addition to Scrum Master experience
  • Experience in multiple technology roles (e.g., project manager, business analyst, developer, QA/testing, UX, deployment)
  • Proven ability to foster team self-organization and continuous improvement
  • Knowledge of Agile and Lean principles and practices
  • Experience supporting digital product development initiatives
  • Familiarity with Design Thinking principles
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Apply a broad range of Agile practices including user stories, retrospectives, story mapping, ATDD, TDD, continuous integration, pairing, and information radiators to build high-performing teams
  • Facilitate Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
  • Promote a continuous improvement culture through transparency, collaboration, and regular team retrospectives
  • Coach and educate teams on Agile principles, practices, and mindset to foster self-organization and cross-functionality
  • Maintain and optimize Agile tools (especially Jira) to ensure visibility, reporting accuracy, and workflow efficiency
  • Remove impediments and escalate blockers beyond team authority to keep teams focused on delivery goals
  • Partner with other Agile leaders to enhance Agile maturity and consistency across the organization
  • Develop and deliver team-level coaching materials and best practices
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to less experienced Scrum Masters
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing through communities of practice, training sessions, and learning opportunities
  • Ensure adherence to organizational risk, regulatory, and compliance standards
  • Support internal controls, audits, and risk mitigation activities as required
  • Promote a diverse, inclusive, and collaborative team environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
  • Support multiple Agile teams simultaneously across complex initiatives
  • Act as a servant leader and Agile coach, influencing team performance without direct authority
  • Drive Agile adoption, process improvement, and delivery excellence across teams
  • Collaborate with product owners, stakeholders, and technical teams to ensure alignment and transparency
  • Leverage project management principles alongside Agile methodologies to support delivery outcomes
  • Leads through influence, accountability, and ownership within an Agile environment
