The Medical Scribe acts as an assistant during the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner. Documents and gathers information during the treatment process. Organizes healthcare data to provide better service and efficiency of clinical care. Supports doctors and patients through a variety of tasks related to patient care, management, organization and communication. The specific responsibilities of the Medical Assistant encompass but are not limited to the following: Accompany the healthcare provider into patient examination rooms in order to transcribe the patient’s history, physical exam findings, consultations, labs, X-rays, and other evaluations, as stated by the provider, directly into the medical record List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow up instructions and prescriptions as dictated by the provider Prepare plans for follow-up care, as directed by the provider Document any procedures performed by the provider Transcribe patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests, medications and the like Establish and maintain constructive working relationships with patients, coworkers, providers, managers, hospital staff and other individuals that you interact with at Fondren Orthopedic Group
