About The Position

Set up and operate various screw machines for manufacturing precision aircraft quality fasteners.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). A minimum of four (4) years' experience in operating various screw machines; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Reads and interprets documents (blue prints, drawing, or manufacturing work orders), to ascertain what tools and materials are necessary for producing products to precision tolerance to aircraft specification.
  • Sets up and operates, on a production basis, all assigned screw machines and their related products. This includes settings and adjustments required to produce parts to specifications. Selects, mounts and aligns tooling attachments and materials in proper order and relationship. Makes all adjustments necessary to produce parts of acceptable quality.
  • Monitors production run using measuring devices, such as, comparators, micrometers, calipers and various other inspect gauges.
  • Reworks and directs reworking of tooling as needed.
  • Keeps accurate statistical process control records, when required, on each job manufactured, making adjustments during production run as the SPC data directs.
  • Meets and maintains all productivity levels and quality requirements to support departmental goals and schedules.
  • Performs minor preventative maintenance on assigned machines.
  • Performs record keeping, data entry, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations.
