About the position
The Lead of Screening and Assay Development on the Drug Discovery team at Atomic AI, Inc. will be responsible for spearheading efforts to develop, optimize, establish, and conduct biological, molecular, and biochemical assays for screening small molecule modulators of RNA targets. This role will play a crucial part in assessing the efficacy and safety of drug candidates in multiple projects, driving the success of the company's drug discovery programs. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in developing and establishing various assays, as well as proficiency in designing and working with plasmid- or mRNA-based reporter systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop, qualify, and validate novel and standard assays in-house. Ensure reproducibility and consistency of screening results and methods.
- Provide scientific leadership and in-depth knowledge for biochemical, molecular, and cell-based assays, and interpretation of results.
- Independently, proactively, and effectively troubleshoot assay-related issues.
- Hire and mentor new members of the team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 15 years of experience in the industry or PhD in the life sciences and minimum of 10 years of experience in the industry.
- Extensive experience in developing and establishing novel and off-the-shelf biochemical, molecular, and cellular assays (cell lines, primary cells, viability/cytotoxicity, ELISA, Western, qPCR, MSD, microscopy, flow cytometry, etc.).
- Proficiency in designing, cloning, and working with plasmid- or mRNA-based reporter systems.
- Hands-on familiarity with small molecule library screening, including lab automation for medium- and high-throughput formats (96- and 384-well plates).
- Demonstrated experience in developing, qualifying, and validating assays in-house.
- Scientific leadership and in-depth knowledge for biochemical, molecular, and cell-based assays, and interpretation of results.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot assay-related issues.
- Experience in hiring and mentoring team members.
