About The Position

Granite is seeking a Screed Operator. This is a union-represented position. The role involves operating a screed machine to spread and smooth freshly poured concrete or asphalt surfaces. Requirements

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience.
• Proper certification required.
• Appropriate training and experience required.
• Ability to read engineering drawing.
• Practice good safety habits.
• Work in dusty or dirty surroundings.
• Follow instructions and meet set standards.
• Judge distances and slopes accurately.
• Make decisions based on verifiable standards.
• Ability to stoop, bend, and crouch.
• Ability to use hands, arms, and legs fully.
• See well (either naturally or with correction).
• Lift up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
• Subject to drug and alcohol testing requirements, including but not limited to pre-employment and random testing.

Responsibilities

• Operate asphalt, screed, or concrete paver.
• Operate other paving related equipment as well such as rollers, screed, etc.
• Safely perform a number of construction paving duties.
• Perform routine inspection and preventive maintenance on assigned equipment and refers defects or repairs to the supervisor.
• Move levers, depress pedals, turn handwheels, and push throttle to control and guide machine.
