As a Scientist, you will be expected to be able to use your knowledge of virology and molecular biology to independently design and execute experiments with guidance from the lab head and project teams. You must be self-motivated to deliver vaccine program objectives on time and be able to identify and mitigate any potential delays.

Requirements

  • PhD with 0+ years of post-doc and/or job-related experience, MS with 3+ years of experience, or BS with 6+ years of experience
  • Three or more years of hands-on experience with cell culture and working with human viruses
  • Three or more years of experience utilizing a wide variety of molecular biology and immunology techniques, including FACS and ligand-based assays
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively convey complex scientific data
  • Basic skills in statistical analysis
  • Fluency in spoken and written English

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with one or more of the following: Quantitative viral outgrowth assays
  • Working with human biological samples
  • Biosafety Level 2+ and/or 3 experience
  • Collaborating with large project teams in a matrix environment.

Responsibilities

  • Apply virology and molecular biology expertise to the design and development of GSK vaccine projects
  • Implementation of new technologies to help drive vaccine development
  • Perform multiple immunology assays including FACS and ligand-based assays
  • Develop and conduct assays to evaluate the mechanism of action of vaccine candidates
  • Possesses strong scientific leadership to enable collaboration with key scientific internal and external stakeholders.
  • Publish in peer reviewed journals
