About The Position

About the Position: Cartography Biosciences is bridging immunology and computation to understand critical differences between normal and cancerous cells, ultimately solving the challenge of finding the safest, most selective targets for a variety of immunotherapeutic approaches. We are searching for highly motivated individuals to join our team focused at the interface of immunotherapy and genomics research. You’ll work in close collaboration with experimental and computational team members while also driving projects independently. The Histology team is seeking a full-time laboratory Scientist/Senior Scientist to help build and advance our targets and immunotherapy product validation efforts utilizing immunohistochemistry, immunofluorescence and in situ hybridization. The position will report to our Head of Histology and be responsible for planning and carrying out experiments independently to generate convincing histological data for novel targets, biologics and immunotherapy products in our development pipeline. This is a full-time position which is required to be on-site in South San Francisco performing laboratory experiments.

Requirements

  • PhD degree in biological sciences with 2-5 years of experience or Master's degree with >5 years of experience in biotech/biopharma companies.
  • Experienced in histology and possesses a general understanding of chemistry, microscopy, molecular biology, immunology, oncology or a related field with relevant experience
  • Knowledgeable with IHC and ISH procedures and protocol development, with trouble-shooting capabilities and problem-solving skills
  • At least three years experience in histology using instruments such as Leica BOND Rx, Roche Discovery Ultra, IntelliPATH,
  • Experienced in tissue embedding and tissue processing to generate FFPE blocks and sections
  • Experienced with record keeping via electronic notebooks
  • Willing to learn new technologies in a fast-paced laboratory setting
  • Perform safe laboratory practices to effectively carry out experiments while maintaining safety as the highest priority

Responsibilities

  • Perform IHC, IF, and/or ISH experiments on cell lines and tissue sections to develop histological data to validate our novel targets and therapeutics
  • Generate, maintain, and review electronic lab notebook reports and SOPs
  • Independently conduct experiments; maintain detailed records of experiments and outcomes; and work in collaboration with other team members
  • Engage in FFPE tissue sectioning when needed
