About The Position

Requirements

Background in Chemistry, Pharmaceutics, Materials Science, or related science. Strong lab-based knowledge of chemical and solid state analysis.
Experience/knowledge in enabling formulation technologies (e.g., nanosuspension, lipid-based formulation

Responsibilities

Responsible for small molecule preclinical formulation development and preparation and API solid state characterization.
Lead development activities such as physicochemical characterization (Powder X-ray diffraction, DSC, TGA, Raman and FTIR analysis, Particle size, polarized light microscopy, moisture sorption analysis), solubility, dissolution and stability assessments (HPLC), salt and polymorph screening and characterization for small molecule drug candidates.
Participate in discovery teams and lead small molecule preformulation projects. Partner with preclinical project leaders to coordinate activities between Small Molecule Formulation, Chemical Process Development, Medicinal Chemistry, DMPK, Discovery, and Preclinical Safety groups.
Oversee activities at CROs.
Support regulatory filing activities representing small molecule preformulation.
Provide input to leadership team for strategic directions of the preformulation group.
Identify and champion the implementation of innovative concepts and technologies in support of preclinical formulation development and other relevant areas.
Provide training, leadership, and supervision to junior scientific staff.
