About The Position

The candidate will partner with process and manufacturing scientists to identify, prioritize, and develop innovative PAT solutions within each of Biogen's four therapeutic modalities. Responsibilities include evaluation of existing and emerging analytical technologies, design of laboratory/pilot scale-based implementations of process monitoring advances, and a strong partnership with manufacturing scientists to ensure the development and eventual commercial implementation of fit-for-purpose technologies. In addition, the candidate will present findings at conferences, in scientific publications, and enable industry-wide adaptation of technological advances. The Strategic Analytics group, part of Analytical Development, has an opportunity for a Scientist I/II as a subject matter expert in process analytical technology (PAT). The candidate will partner with process and manufacturing scientists to identify, prioritize, and develop innovative PAT solutions within each of Biogen's four therapeutic modalities

Requirements

  • 0 - 5 years of post-doctoral or industry experience in PAT.
  • Deep knowledge of spectroscopic techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for lab-based PAT installations including instrument selection, procurement, interfacing with processing equipment, maintenance, and application optimization in close partnership with Manufacturing Sciences
  • Develop new in-line, on-line, and at-line analytical methods
  • Works with cross-functional stakeholders to refine business process for PAT from development to tech transfer
  • Work with cross-functional teams to provide deeper understanding of properties/process/product performance relationships using appropriate PAT tools and models
  • Advanced multivariate data/statistical analysis for method development, investigation/troubleshooting, and product quality control strategy
  • Responsible for maintaining and curating critical knowledge and developing best practice related to PAT
  • Trains relevant stakeholders on PAT tools and modeling approaches
  • Authors, reviews and approves documentation
