About The Position

We are seeking enthusiastic, creative Science teachers to teach middle school or high school during the 2026-2027 school year. Summary description: To create a class environment conducive to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with students; to motivate students to develop skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for continuing education in accordance with each student’s ability; to establish/foster healthy relationships with parents and other staff members. Patriot Preparatory Academy began in 2010 as a K-12 public charter school. Patriot is unlike any other charter school, and we invite you to schedule a visit. As a teacher at PPA, you will have the support and love of your coworkers and administration as you work to prepare our students for college/career.

Responsibilities

  • Annually prepare/update/submit a curriculum map that includes all state standards and material covered on state assessments
  • Collaborate with other teachers in your content area to vertically align all curriculum maps to ensure all students success in your content area
  • Implement district curriculum provided by the curriculum teams
  • Present lessons that are engaging, relevant, and align with the submitted curriculum map
  • Modify/Adjust instruction based upon classroom assessment data to ensure mastery of concepts
  • Modify instructional practices/routines in accordance with students’ IEP, 504, ELL, or Gifted identifications
  • Use both formal and informal assessments throughout each lesson
  • Assign classwork/homework regularly that reviews or prepares for lesson
  • Use a variety of instructional strategies, such as inquiry, group discussions, lecture, discovery, and instructional aides, to engage students in active learning
  • Create a positive educational climate for students
  • Implement a positive behavior reward system
  • Follow all PPA policies to help ensure uniformity of the program
  • Observe and collaborate with other teachers in the building multiple times throughout the year for mutual growth/development in accordance with the peer observation program
  • Attend professional development opportunities throughout the school year or summer for your continuous improvement
  • Reflect and evaluate lessons/policies/practices often
  • Build a relationship with students and parents so that they know you want only the best for the student
  • Maintain strong collaborative relationships with teachers, instructional support staff, and others.
  • Be supportive of the PPA team at all times, but especially when speaking to parents and students
