About The Position

The Learning Community, a vibrant public charter school that centers the voices of students, families, and teachers seeks a collaborative, dedicated School Social Worker who holds high expectations for all students. At The Learning Community we believe that literacy empowers each individual to have a voice, take social action and assume community responsibility. We grow teacher leaders, student leaders and community leaders. Day to Day Responsibilities: Provides direct and indirect school social work services to students in grades K-8 within the school setting. Acts as a liaison between the home, school and community providers to access, mobilize and coordinate services. Proactively partners with school personnel to co-facilitate student conversations, enhance school climate, coordinate around student needs and support at all tiers of intervention. Delivers trainings to children and team members around mental health topics, classroom supports, and conflict resolution Provides crisis intervention services and collaboration as needed Conducts assessments, screenings and student evaluations as required, inclusive of needs assessments and crisis response assessments. Minimum Qualifications: To be considered for this position, all candidates must possess or be eligible for a RI Department of Education School Social Worker certification. In addition, all candidates must be U.S. citizens or residents or have work visas. In addition, they must demonstrate: A proactive, organized approach to advocating for and meeting student needs. We are seeking a School Social Worker that will proactively advocate for and design solutions to meet student needs and offer support to teachers in our community to do the same. In addition, this role requires a sharp attention to detail when it comes to scheduling students, managing their caseload, and prioritizing their time. Being a reliable, collaborative, and consistently strong colleague. Our teams work closely together, and build on each other’s insights and strengths with students to meet their goals. At the Learning Community, team members must be committed to healthy communication with others, working through conflict, supporting their team, and asking for the support they need. Strong problem-solving skills, judgment and resilience. As a Social Worker, you will need to consider multiple areas of input and potential downstream impacts when coming to decisions related to particular students and how to best meet their needs. Social Workers that thrive at the Learning Community are excellent at considering various facets of student needs, rebounding from setbacks with students, teachers, or families and learning and problem-solving to meet their goals. Salary, Benefits and Other Details: Workday. This position is a full-time, teacher of record role based at the Learning Community Charter School in Central Falls, Rhode Island. All teachers are expected to work 7:45-3:15 pm most days except for Wednesdays where the hours are 7:45am-4:45pm due to whole team meetings, with 1.5 hours of planning daily, including shared team prep time and lunch/break time every day. Additionally, the individual will be required to attend Summer Institute in August prior to the start of each school year. Salary.
