About The Position

School Psychologist Interns will practice under the guidance of the Director of Special Education and the supervising school psychologist(s). The intern will participate in all aspects of school psychology including but not limited to the following:

Requirements

  • Completing Masters in School Social Work from accredited University
  • Recommendation from University for entry into internship program
  • Superior work habits and ethics – self motivated
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal
  • Ability to work well with administration, faculty, students and parents
  • Ability to perform duties as outlined
  • Physical requirements will comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in problem solving meetings with building teams
  • Assist with the development and implementation of strategic interventions for students
  • Assist with screening and progress monitoring practices to identify at risk students and to monitor the effectiveness of interventions
  • Complete psychological evaluation components as a part of Full Case Study Evaluations using standard test batteries adn multiple supplemental tests as appropriate
  • Assist in conduction functional assessments of behavior and the corresponding develpment of behavior support plans
  • Develop/present in-services for parents/teachers as specific needs dictate
  • Contribute to the on-going development and maintenance of the school psychologist website
  • Participate in IEP meetings including: a) Reviews of existing information b) Eligibility meetings c) Interim IEP meetings d) Annual reviews
  • Coordinate the completion of paperwork for the following meetings: a) Reviews of existing information b) Eligibility determinations c) Manifestation determinations d) Select portions of the IEP
  • Participate in the development of 504 Plans under the American's with Disabilities Act
  • Preparation of psychological reports which adequately synthesizes information and yields meaningful recommendations
  • Review independent reports and incorporate the information to that which is currently existing
