This position's responsibilities are to provide multiple learning experiences for school psychologist interns. Interns will practice in the role of a school psychologist through assessing and observing students. They will develop skills in teaming with an evaluation IEP team and will assist in report writing. They will have a full range of experiences from preschool through high school level. They will maintain confidential records on individual students. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Depending upon the individual assignment, the School Psychologist Intern may perform all or a combination of the following: 1. Initiates planning and provides feedback to parents following referral or reevaluation of students according to mandates of state WACs. 2. Provides a variety of consultation and advice on issues such as behavior management, social skills and a wide variety of other matters to assist students in improving behavior to benefit the child’s education. 3. Acts as a liaison between parents and school; provides for and/or conducts team meetings and special events; promotes communication between parents, students, school and agencies. 4. Serves as team leader at multi-disciplinary team meetings, staff meetings, pre-meetings for individual education plans (IEPs), and in agency contacts. 5. Assists with/coordinates efforts for consistent behavior and environment for the child. 6. Administers tests and evaluations to determine appropriate student service needs. 7. Maintains a variety of program records, files and documents according to program standards and established guidelines. 8. Compiles and distributes a wide variety of information in issues of concern to parents. 9. Attends and/or schedules a variety of meetings with other staff; discusses family progress and further needs. OTHER FUNCTIONS 10. Assists in a variety of activities to transition students from building to building; provides a variety of coordination and scheduling of transportation. Consults with social service providers in schools to ensure continuation of needed services. 11. Performs a variety of public relations activities in support of the program. 12. May serve on various district committees and/or departmental work teams. Models appropriate and cooperative behavior, including protecting confidential information, consistent with district ethical guidelines. 13. Performs related duties consistent with the scope and intent of the position.
