About The Position

The School Nurse will provide health services and care to students, ensuring their well-being while fostering a safe and nurturing environment that supports the school's overall mission. This role will involve working closely with administration, faculty, parents, and students to maintain a healthy, safe school community aligned with the values of Indian Rocks Church and Christian School. Must give testimony and evidence of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Requirements

  • A collaborative, supportive leader who shows humility, drive, emotional intelligence, positivity, and loyalty to the IRCS vision and mission.
  • Education: Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid nursing license. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • Experience: Minimum of [2] years of nursing experience, preferably in a school or pediatric setting. Experience working with children or adolescents is desirable.
  • Certifications: CPR and First Aid certified, School Nurse Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, staff, and the school community.
  • Ability to handle medical emergencies calmly and professionally.
  • Familiarity with school health regulations and compliance.
  • The individual must stay up to date on training requirements and communicate any changes to their supervisor and the Human Resources Director. It is the staff member’s responsibility to remain compliant with current standards.
  • Demonstrate a consistent Christian lifestyle as referenced by the Mission, Statement of Faith, and Leadership Guidelines of Indian Rocks.
  • Must be an active member of Indian Rocks Church as defined by regular attendance in worship services, regular attendance/involvement in an Indian Rocks Connection Group or Small Group, and commitment to systematic stewardship and faithful in tithing.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and provide first aid and emergency care to students.
  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments as authorized by parents and physicians.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential health records, including immunization records, injury reports, and medical conditions.
  • Assist with the management of students with chronic illnesses and conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, allergies).
  • Ensure that students with special health needs have appropriate accommodations and support within the school environment.
  • Establish and maintain open communication with students, parents, and school administration regarding medical issues or concerns.
  • Develop and implement emergency response protocols and respond to emergencies and injuries in a calm, timely, and professional manner.
  • Provide health education on topics such as nutrition, hygiene, and disease prevention.
  • Monitor and maintain a safe and clean school environment to prevent the spread of illness. Provide advice on preventing infectious diseases and managing outbreaks.
  • Work in cooperation with all levels of management, support staff, personnel, church leaders, volunteers, members, and guests to fulfill the mission of Indian Rocks.
