About The Position

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES, EXPERIENCE AND SKILL SET Provide nursing care to students Administer medications and nursing care procedures as prescribed by the student’s physician Conduct vision/hearing, BMI, and Scoliosis screenings Notify parents of any need for further evaluation after screenings Actively participate in school safety plans and wellness committee meetings Communicate with teachers and parents regarding any injuries sustained at school File accident reports with the school’s insurance carrier Provide first aid and assessment of injuries, notifying parents concerning anything that leaves a mark Assess students for illness, reporting fever of 100.4 or above and inform guardians of the district’s 24 hour fever free policy Develop Individual Health Care Plans and 504 Plans for students as needed Assist in completion of School Health Index Follow procedures for reporting child abuse and neglect as a mandated reporter Identify and flag all allergies and institute a Dietary Modification Plan to be followed by teachers and cafeteria staff Maintain daily documentation in eschool for all visits and the outcome Checking in medication and double signing with parents for all scheduled medications Assist with flu clinics (reviewing all consent forms prior to clinic) Chronic illness management (diabetics, asthmatic’s, B/P’s etc.) Maintain current cumulative records on all students- immunizations, etc. Reassignment or assistance at any school when requested by Head Nurse Monthly AED Checks QUALIFICATIONS Punctual and regular attendance Accept supervision and suggestions Ability to maintain good relationships with peers and co-workers that are characterized by mutual support, respect, and cooperation Able to build capacity among teachers by improving instructional practices and developing a collaborative atmosphere through mentorships and PLCs Good physical health/condition to meet the demands of long hours Maintain a positive attitude toward students and a cooperative attitude with co-workers Ability to professionally communicate with students, co-workers, parents, and community Maintain confidentiality pertaining to students and staff Display leadership skills and effectively communicate or present information in multiple settings Skillful as evidenced by: communication skills, collaboration skills, interpersonal skills, experience with facilitation of adult learners, time management, planning and organization Ability to use good judgement in making decisions Skillful with technology, must be able to learn how to use state systems and create local data documents

  • Current Nursing License in state of Arkansas (RN or LPN)
  • CPR and First Aid Certification required
