South Dakota School Counselor Certificate. EXPERIENCE DESIRED: Five or more years’ experience. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position requires constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, hearing, speaking, keyboarding, use of wrists, hands, fingers, writing, sitting, bending, standing, and walkinghis position requires constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, hearing, speaking, keyboarding, use of wrists, hands, fingers, writing, sitting, bending, standing, and walking. OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to create positive relationships. Strong organizational skills. Ability to plan, organize, and work collaboratively with other teams CERTIFICATION This position requires a valid South Dakota certificate. Questions about SD teaching certification: South Dakota Department of Education YOUTH SUICIDE AWARENESS AND PREVENTION TRAINING South Dakota Codified Law 13-42-71 requires certified educators to complete at least one hour of approved youth suicide awareness and prevention training every five years. Compliance is verified through district accreditation reviews. You will be required to provide your most recent certificate of completion prior to starting employment with the Sioux Falls School District. Please carefully review the options before selecting a training as unapproved trainings will require you to retake an approved course. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES Assist students and teachers in the formulation of academic, personal/social, and career plans, based on the knowledge of students’ needs. Collaborate with teachers and HAC counselors on the appropriate CTE courses for students’ interest. Track dual/concurrent credit with CTE students. Communicate with student’s HAC counselor, parent/guardian, and student. Plan/Participate in CTE promotions. Other duties as assigned.
